Storage in Transit (SIT) is a temporary storage solution offered by moving companies when your new home isn’t ready to receive your belongings. Instead of delivering everything immediately, your items are securely stored in a climate-controlled warehouse for a short period, then delivered once you give the go-ahead.

When It’s Used

1. You’re waiting to close on a new home.
2. Your new place is still under renovation.
3. There’s a gap between move-out and move-in dates.
4. You’re relocating long-distance and need flexible timing.

How It Works

1. Your belongings are picked up on moving day and stored in a licensed, secure facility.
2. The storage is typically short-term — often up to 90 days.
3. Once you’re ready, the mover arranges delivery to your new address.

What You Should Know

1. If you need more time, your belongings may be put into long-term storage (costs and terms may vary).
